Admissions Information for the "Sumitra Clinic" in Pune India


The treatment is provided at a cost of US$950 (or 45,000 Indian Rupees) per week. A complimentary inpatient room is provided for the first week of treatment after which time the treatment is provided on an outpatient basis. Food, lodging and taxi fares during the outpatient period are the responsibility of the patient. Payment is due at the end of each week an can be made in the form of certified check, money order or cashiers check in most major currencies. A full refund will be provided in the unlikely event that the patient does not exhibit any improvement as result of treatment. Although the patient is free to terminate treatment at any time, optimal results typically require 8 to 12 weeks of treatment depending on the severity of the paralysis. Patients are required to follow a strict regimen of low cost daily medications for 6 to 12 months after completion of the treatment (cost of medications are approx US$50 per week tappering down to zero over time). Pune is a large vibrant cosmopolitan city. A wide variety of hotels are available from one star to five stars. We will assist the patient in making reservations in suitable lodgings according to his/her financial needs.


The exact duration of inpatient and outpatient treatment can vary from case to case depending on factors such as age of patient, general health, severity of paralysis, etc. Treatment durations and efficacy can be adversely affected by diabetes, obesity, secondary strokes prior to treatment, etc.


The treatment principally consists of three distinct but complementary elements.
1. Conventional FDA approved drug treatments. The dosages of the drugs are tightly controlled in a unique manner so as to achieve an optimal result for each individual patient.
2. A rigorous stroke rehab physical therapy regimen.
3. Complimentary self-administered herbal supplements and holistic natural health products which are unregulated by FDA.

The patient is required to forward his complete medical history including MRI and PET scans to our clinic for review. An initial assessment is made at that time as to the probable duration of treatment required to attain independent functionality. The patient is contacted and arrangements are made for future admission.

PHASE 1: Initial Consultation Visit
- Patient is interviewed by qualified doctors and medical history is reviewed again in person including past medical diagnosis, MRI scans, etc.
- Complications such as hypertension or diabetes are noted
- Patient is informed of probable duration of treatment and expected results
- Patient signs medical waivers and consent forms

PHASE II: In-Patient Treatment (4 to 5 days)
This phase typically lasts 4 days but may be extended due to complications such as severe paralysis, chronic paralysis (several years of muscular atrophy) or paralysis due to multiple strokes. Patients typically begin regaining movement in limbs within a few days of treatment and occasionally on the first day of treatment depending upon nature of stroke, area of the brain affected and the period laps between onset of strokes and commencement of treatment.
- Twice daily IV is applied for 10 to 30 minutes (20 minutes average) 8 to 12 hours apart
- Periodic medications are administered by nurses-aids as prescribed by doctors
- Twice daily physical therapy and therapeutic massage is administered by hospital staff 8 to 12 hours apart

PHASE III: Out-Patient Treatment (5 to 12 weeks)
This phase typically lasts 5 to 12 weeks but may be extended in case of complicating factors such as severe paralysis, chronic paralysis or multiple strokes.
- Up to twice daily IV is applied for 10 to 30 minutes (20 minutes average) 8 to 12 hours apart
- Periodic medications are administered by nurses-aids as prescribed by doctors
- Periodic physical therapy and therapeutic massage is administered by hospital staff twice daily 8 to 12 hours apart

PHASE IV: Post Treatment Maintenance (6 to 8 months)
- In this final phase, patient is given medications to be self administered at home on a tapered basis over time.


Pune is located approximately 2 hour drive from Bombay’s international airport. Transportation can be arranged to and from the airport at the patient's request. Round trip airfare from North America is generally in the range of US$1,000 per person return.


Prior to commencement of treatment, the patient or guardian is required to sign a standard medical liability waiver.


Potential patients are urged to read this website thoroughly with particular attention to the statistical results of past treatment. Although the treatment has been found to be highly effective in the vast majority of patients (95% of past cases), a 100% recovery is not guaranteed in all cases.
