Therapeutic indications

Amitriptyline + diazepam + perphenazine

Treatment of depressive states with moderate to severe anxiety or agitation. Patients with anxiety and depression associated with chronic physical illness or in patients in whom depression and anxiety are not well differentiated. Sleep disorders, which are accompanied by motor restlessness, anxiety, tension and negative and/or catastrophic thoughts.

Contraindications

In addition:elderly with open-angle glaucoma; gastrointestinal obstruction; prostatic hypertrophy; signs of bone marrow depression; cases of acute alcohol intoxication with manifestations of depression; coma or shock; hypoxia; cerebral edema; mental depression; during lactation.

Warnings and Precautions

See amitriptyline, diazepam and perphenazine. In addition: elderly; H.I.; May produce hypomania and increase symptoms of psychosis, especially with simultaneous administration with MAOIs; in individuals with hypoalbuminemia causes profound depression; produces tolerance and dependence.

Hepatic insufficiency

Amitriptyline + diazepam + perphenazine.
Caution. Reduce dose to half the normal dose of ads.

Interactions

Amitriptyline + diazepam + perphenazine

Produces additional CNS depressant effects when coadministered with antipsychotics, antidepressants, antihistamines, barbiturates, alcohol.
Lab: liver function tests are modified, phenothiazines increase cholesterol, urinary catecholamines and estrogens, prolonged therapy may elevate alkaline phosphatase, direct and indirect bilirubin or blood glucose. It may also normalize T3 and T4 in a hyperthyroid.

Pregnancy

It is contraindicated during pregnancy.

Breastfeeding

Its use is contraindicated in nursing mothers.

Effects on driving ability

Amitriptyline + diazepam + perphenazine

Do not perform mechanical operations (such as driving) that require a state of attention, due to the possible risk of drowsiness.

Adverse reactions

Fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation; moderate tachycardia; accommodation disorders, blurred vision (disappear with dose adjustment). Produces tolerance and dependence.
